Seymour Daily Tribune Martha Helton September 19, 2006 Martha Helton, 83, Seymour died at 9 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006, at her residence. Mrs. Helton was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Seymour. She was a homemaker, devoted wife and mother. Mrs. Helton was a good Christian woman who loved going to church, reading her Bible and listening to gospel music. She was loved by all who knew her. Born Aug. 1, 1923, in Breathitt County, Ky., she was a daughter of Samuel and Anna [Watts] White, both of whom preceded her in death. On Jan. 26, 1946, she married Clifford E. Helton in Scott County. She is survived by her husband of almost 61 years, Clifford; four sons: David [Cheryl] Helton, Alvin [Janie] Helton, Joe Helton, all of Seymour, and Paul [Janet] Helton, Scottsburg; one daughter, Naomi [Lester] Smith, Borden; one sister Mary [Elias] Mullins, Lexington; 16 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, William White, and a sister, Bertha Deaton. The Rev. Steven Greene, the Rev. Mark Wooten, the Rev. Bill Deaton and the Rev. Wilbert Vandervolt will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Church of the Nazarene. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Voss Funeral Chapel and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be given to donor's choice.
