Seymour Daily Tribune February 17, 2007 Edwin H. Herring July 20, 1920 - Feb. 14, 2007 Edwin H. Herring, 86, Shelbyville, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, at his residence. Mr. Herring was a longtime Shelbyville resident. He had been a millwright for Western Electric in Indianapolis for 33 years, retiring in 1982. Previously he was a truck driver for Mayflower Trucking in Indianapolis for three years and was employed at Link Belt in Indianapolis for two to three years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a machinist mate third class. He graduated from Shields High School in Seymour. He was a member of Reddington Christian Church for more than 50 years, Good Sam National Organization, Telephone Pioneers, Bears of Blue River Campers, Blue River Sam's local chapter of Shelbyville. After retirement, he and his wife became very involved in the NCHA/FCRV Camping organization and traveled extensively for the next 20 years. They were chosen to represent the NCHA Retirees as the International Retiree King and Queen in 1993 and as field directors and central district directors for Indiana and were NCHA Kentucky Colonels. Born July 20, 1920, in Reddington, he was a son of James and MaryBelle Hercules Herring, both of whom preceded him in death. In 1970, he married Wanda L. Irwin, who survives. Other survivors include two sons, Scott Herring, Shelbyville, and David (Evelyn) Herring, Lebanon; a stepson, Stephen L. (Debbie) Irwin, Zionsville; a stepdaughter, Pamela S. Irwin, Zionsville; three grandsons, James Herring, Matthew Herring and Joseph Herring; two stepgrandchildren, Rachel Beauchamp and Michael Irwin; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. The Rev. Bryan Trotter will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville. Burial will take place at Reddington Cemetery, with military rites conducted by local veterans organizations. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Hospice of South Central Indiana.
