Seymour Daily Tribune May 21, 2002 Harold Vinson Hines Harold Vinson Hines, 85, Scipio, died at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2002, at Columbus Regional Hospital, Columbus. Mr. Hines was employed for 30 years by the Jennings County Highway Department, and retired as an equipment operator. He also was a Democrat precinct committeeman for 30 years. He enjoyed gardening and working on racecars. Born Nov. 6, 1916, in Jennings County, he was a son of Norvall Dick Hines and Sarah Esther Hines, who both preceded him in death. On Oct. 1, 1938, he married Hazel Mae Stinson, and she also preceded him. He is survived by one son, Harold Hines Jr., Scipio; five daughters, Sarah Petro, Scipio, and Carolyn Biddinger, Shirley Wells, Belinda Brooks and Nancy Kirchner, all of North Vernon; a brother, Homer Hines, Scipio; 34 grandchildren; 90 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Becky Petro. The Rev. William A. Ramey of Queensville Community Church will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Thursday at Dove-Sharp and Rudicel Funeral Home, North Vernon. Burial will be at Scipio Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, through the funeral home.
