David T. Hirtzel

David T. Hirtzel, 47, North Vernon, died Sunday, March 3, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Hirtzel worked for the Indiana State Board of Health as a quality control specialist for nursing homes and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1972 and graduated from Ball State University with a bachelor’s degree in special education in 1982. He was an avid NASCAR fan and was a member of North Vernon Moose Lodge, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2021.
Born Aug. 17, 1954, in Quebec, Canada, he was a son of John Hirtzel and Mary Grunert. On Dec. 20, 1980, in Muncie, he married Ulrike Koenig, who survives in North Vernon.
Other survivors include a brother, John Hirtzel, Muncie, and a sister, Mary Beth Hirtzel, La Grange.
The Rev. Herman Lutz will conduct services at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Vance-Fisher-Sawyer Funeral Chapel, North Vernon. Burial will take place at a later date.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to donor’s choice of charities.
