Seymour Tribune - August 27, 2009 Herman Frederick Holle Retired U.S. Air Force Major Herman Frederick Holle, 80, of Belton, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at Research Medical Center. Mr. Holle earned an associate degree at Indiana Business College. He entered the Air Force, was commissioned as captain in 1959, and served in Japan, Korea and Germany. He was stationed at Ethan Allen Air Force Base in Vermont where sons Steven and David were born, and Scott Air Force Base in Illinois, where son Daniel was born. He retired from Richards-Gebauer Air Force Base in Missouri, on Oct. 31, 1968, after which he served as a commercial pilot, federal protection officer and as a contract assurance officer for GSA, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Grandview Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and served as an elder and usher and was in the adult choir and bell choir. He was a member of the Belton Chamber of Commerce, the Military Officers Association of America and the F-86 Sabre Pilots Association. He loved to travel and enjoyed being with his family. Born Feb. 1, 1929, in Jackson County, he was the son of Christian and Amanda Oberring Holle. He met Harriet Vordenbaum Holle in Japan, and they were married on Oct. 29, 1955, and had lived in Belton since 1966. Survivors include three sons, Belton Fire Chief Steven (Diane) Holle and David (June) Holle, both of Belton, Mo., and Daniel M. (Susan Gerometta) Holle, Columbus; good friend, Becky Ivers, Belton, Mo.; brother, Lawrence (Luella) Holle, Seymour; eight grandchildren, Lauren, Zachary, Nathaniel, Leah, and Caleb Holle, Amelia and Tyler Gerometta and Anna Holle. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Grandview, Mo. Burial will take place in Mount Moriah Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the church. Arrangements were handled by McGilley & George Funeral Home, Grandview, MO.
