Seymour Tribune - November 2008 Verna AIleen Holtman Verna Aileen Holtman, 85, Seymour, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at Lutheran Community Home, Seymour. Ms. Holtman graduated from Shields High School in 1941 and from Franklin College in 1946. She taught at Clifty Creek for 28 years and at Emerson Elementary School for 18 years. She retired from teaching in 1983. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was a member of Immanuel Guild, Lutheran Layman's League and Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She was also a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, Delta Kappa Gamma and Retired Teachers Association and served as a Pink Lady at Schneck Memorial Hospital. She traveled the world with many of her friends, having visited most of the world's continents, and later giving lectures about her travels. Born June 12, 1923, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Henry and Louise Kilgas Holtman, both of whom preceded her in death. Survivors include a brother, Ralph (LaVonna) Holtman, and two nephews, Carl (Amy) Holtman and Mark Holtman. The Rev. Ralph Blomenberg, the Rev. Philip Bloch and the Rev. Jimmy Rodriguez will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Burial will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Voss Chapel, Seymour, and from 10 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church.
