Seymour Tribune - March 2009 Oren Oliver Hubbard 1921 - 2009 Oren Oliver Hubbard, 87, Seymour, passed away at 1:25 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at Kindred Hospital-South, Greenwood. Mr. Hubbard served in the United States Coast Guard for three years during World War II and was employed as a mechanic for Cummins Engine Co. for 33 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, an avid fisherman and loved basketball. Born on Dec. 17, 1921, in Columbus, he was the son of William Silas and Effie Alma Davis Hubbard. On July 6, 1941, he married Virginia Emma Schleheuser at Jonesville Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Lynn (Deborah) Hubbard, Munising, Mich., and Roger (Sharon) Hubbard, Des Moines, Iowa; two grandsons, Bradley (Lisa) Hubbard, Weston, Wis., and Eric (Melinda) Hubbard, Des Moines, Iowa; two great-grandsons, Adian and Riley Hubbard; two great-granddaughters, Elise and Loran Hubbard; a brother, Paul (June) Hubbard, Columbus; and a niece, Nancy (Ed) Trowbridge, Evansville, Wis. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William and Otto Hubbard. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Philip Bloch and the Rev. Ralph Blomenberg officiating. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Burkholder Chapel, Seymour. Burial will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery after the service.
