Seymour Daily Tribune Doris Louise Allman Huffman March 4, 2006 June 7, 1911 – March 2, 2006 Doris Louise Allman Huffman, 94, of New Port Richey, Fla., and formerly of Lawrence and Jackson counties, died Thursday, March 2, 2006, at Community Hospital in New Port Richey. She was a graduate of Medora High School and an active member of First United Methodist Church in Bedford. During World War II, she served as a USO hostess in Battle Creek, Mich., while her husband and three brothers served in the armed forces. Active in many civic organizations, she was president of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 33, served on the advisory board of the Salvation Army, was a worthy matron in Eastern Star and officer in Order of the White Shrine and Lawrence County Salon Number 638 of the 8 & 40. She was a Girl Scout leader, president of the leaders club and camp counselor, as well as a first aid instructor for the American Red Cross. Born June 7, 1911, in Jackson County, she was a daughter of Lycurgis Allman and Estella May Stilwell Allman, both of whom preceded her in death. On Oct. 12, 1929, she married Logan L. Huffman, who died in 1995. Survivors include a sister, Lois Strouse, Spencer, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Deloris Phillips, Kathleen Huffman, Marie Marlette and Mildred Allman, and four brothers, Arnold, Arthur, Ward and James Allman. The Rev. Jack Shake will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hague Funeral Home, Medora. Burial will be at Dixon Chapel Cemetery in Lawrence County. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Tunnelton United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
