Seymour Daily Tribune January 8, 2007 Opal P. Hughes May 11, 1911 - Jan. 6, 2007 Opal P. Hughes, 95, Seymour, died at 12:25 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour. Mrs. Hughes was a member of Cornerstone Community Church in Seymour. She was devoted to church service all her life, teaching Sunday school, working with youth ministry and various other areas of ministry. For many of her latter years, she did volunteer work for Community Provisions of Jackson County. She worked at Mendal Printing in St. Louis for 10 years where she was a member of the union. Born in Bismarck, Mo., on May 11, 1911, she was a daughter of Henry and Belle Crane Williams, both of whom preceded her in death. She was the widow of William Harvey Hughes. Mr. and Mrs. Hughes were married March 23, 1923, and they were together for 68 years. Survivors include her loving daughter, Lois O. DePriest, Seymour; three grandchildren, Dennis (Jill) DePriest, Debra (David) Wilson and Sharon (Greg) Lucas; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Tom, Raymond, Cecil and Roy; three sisters, Nell, Esther and Mary; and a son-in-law, Bill DePriest. The Rev. Crawford Huff and Brother Sam Kidwell will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Voss Chapel, Seymour. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Seymour. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may given to Cornerstone Community Church.
