Seymour Daily Tribune Emma Jean James November 6, 2006 May 8, 1928 - Nov. 5, 2006 Emma Jean James, 78, Scottsburg, died at 10:55 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006, in Kings Daughters Hospital, Madison. Mrs. James was a member of Zoah Chistian Church, Scottsburg. She was a member of the Phi Beta Psi sorority, Scottsburg Women's Bowling League and the Westwood Women's Golf League. She retired as co-owner and operator of the old Scott County Distributing Inc. in Scottsburg. Born May 8, 1928, in Blackwater, Va., she was a daughter of Mack H. Nichols and Kate (Chandler) Nichols, both of whom preceded her in death. On July 3, 1947, she married William H. "Bill" James, who survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Billie Jean (Garth) Kovener, Seymour, JoNell Rogers, Madison, and Jeri Lee James, Scottsburg; three sons, Bill (Shari) James, Scottsburg, Bob (Lily) James, Goodman, Miss., and Bret (Sandy) James, Nabb; two brothers, Mack Nichols and James Nichols, both of Scottsburg; one sister, Joan Taylor, Richmond, Ky.; nine grandchildren Bobbie G. Hutto, Jennifer Corum, Scott R., Clint, Travis, Casey and Jessica James, Sean and Mitchell Rogers; and four great-grandchildren, Ana, Lillian, Timothy and Jackson Hutto. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ganelle Judy Ford, Juanita Wynn and Lorene Armijo. Phil LaMaster will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Collins Funeral Home, Scottsburg. Burial will take place at Scottsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
