Seymour Daily Tribune Louis W. Jaynes Aug. 21, 1917 - Feb. 16, 1997 Louis W. Jaynes, 79, of Seymour died at 10 a.m. Sunday, Feb 16, 1997, at his home. Mr. Jaynes was retired from the City of Seymour, where he worked a a truck driver. He was a member of Seymour Community Church and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Born Aug 21, 1917, in Washington County, he was a son of John and Manda Warner Jaynes. He moved to Jackson County in 1920. He married Gladys Barkman, and she died in September of 1962. In Apreil of 1963, he married Hazel Ross, who survives. Other survivors include four children, Jaunita Ross and Saundria Smeltzer, both of Brownstown; Larry Jaynes, Medora; and Jessie Jaynes, Crothersville; five stepchildren, Morris Baughman, Freetown; Raymond Boughman, Medora; Lum Steele, Seymour; Millie Terrell, Brownstown; and Mildred Campbell, Crothersville, three sisters, Millie Reynolds, Seymour; Mary Hanners, Freetown; and Nancy Edwards, Medora; 30 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. A brother, a sister and two stepsons preceded him in death. The Rev. Frank Holt will conduct services at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Spurgeon Funeral Home in Brownstown, with burial to take place at Fairview Cemetery in Brownstown. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of serviceTuesday at the funeral home. The Veteran of Foreign Wars, Seymour, will conduct a military graveside service. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Memorial Hospital.
