Seymour Daily Tribune January 18, 2002 Ruth Jewell Ruth Jewell, 78, Columbus, died at 9:05 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at her home. Mrs. Jewell attended the Wesleyan Church for several years and was a member of Bible Holiness Church in Seymour. She moved to Columbus in 1939 and was employed by Columbus Regional Hospital for 30 years. She was a former Sunday school teacher, was a member of the board of administration and was a former pianist for the Wesleyan Church. She was the secretary of the Bible Holiness Church in Seymour. Born Nov. 24, 1923, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was a daughter of Lester Christian and Mattie Carter Christian. On Feb. 16, 1943, she married Frank Lee Jewell, who survives. Other survivors include three sons, Timothy Jewell, Mark Jewell and Philip Jewell, all of Columbus; two daughters, Asenath Coombs and Elisabeth “Libby” Jewell, Columbus; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Longworth, and a great-granddaughter, Kelsay Coombs. The family will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday at Vernon Jewell-Nick Rittman Funeral Home, Columbus. A committal service will be conducted by the Rev. Dale Stuart. Burial will be in Garland Brook Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Hospice of South Central Indiana.
