Submitted by: Wendy Engleking Seymour Daily Tribune Elbert Johnson Elbert Johnson age 71, residing on Seymour R. 2 four and one-half miles east of Seymour, died at the home at 3 o'clock this morning. December 12, 1942. Death followed an illness of 4 years duration. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 o'clock Monday morning from Voss Mortuary with Rev. Edward Sutherland in charge. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Mr. Johnson was born on August 13, 1871 at Uniontown, the son of William D. and Rachael King Johnson both of whon preceded him in death. He was married at Tipton, Indiana on May 26, 1902 to Mary Teucher, who died on August 20, 1908. On October 20, 1910 at Columbushe was married to Mary Schmitt who survives. Mr. Johnson was a carpenter by occupation and was widely known throughout this vicinity. Many friends mourn his death. Besides his widow he is survived by 5 children: Paul C. Johnson of Indianapolis; Orel W. Johnson of Seymour: Mrs. Thelma Lankow of Ocean Beach, California: Mrs. Elberta Schneck; and James C. Johnson of Seymour. Three brothers, Perry K. J ohnson of Columbus; James L. Johnson of Chicago; and Charles N. Johnson of Seymour, Two half brothers Clarence W. Ray of Miami Fla. and John T. Ray of Indianapolis One half sister Mary Hiegert of Indianapolis. Ten grandchildren also survive. An Infant daughter Eva Johnson preceded him in death.
