Donald L. Jones
Donald L. Jones, 78, a lifelong resident of Jackson County, died at 3:14 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 2006, at Heritage House of Seymour.
Mr. Jones was employed in the maintenance department at Arvin Industries for 28 years and also worked at Cummins as a forklift driver for two years, prior to retiring in 1980. He was a former member of First Baptist Church and belonged to the Jackson County CB Club.
Born Feb. 12, 1928, in Jackson County, he was a son of Fred C. and Emma Bell McCord Jones, both of whom preceded him in death. On Aug. 26, 1950, in Seymour, he married Ruth L. McKain, who died Oct. 16, 2001.
Survivors include two sons, Steven Jones, Bright, and Allan L. (Annette) Jones, Seymour; a daughter; Brenda (Scott) Harleman, Greensboro, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Elmer Guy Jones; a sister, Leota Mae Jones; and a grandson, Christopher Scott Harleman.
Cremation rites have been accorded, and private inurnment will be held at a future date.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the donor’s choice. Burkholder Funeral Chapel, Seymour, is in charge of arrangements.
