Seymour Daily Tribune May 20, 2002 Clyde G. Jordon Clyde G. Jordon, 88, Seymour, died at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, May 19, 2002, at his home. He had been in failing health. Mr. Jordon served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II; he moved to Jackson County in 1943, where he was stationed at Freeman Field from 1943 to 1945. In 1981, he retired after 30 years as a sales clerk for Seymour Hardware. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star and Disabled American Veterans, all of Seymour. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Seymour, where he was in the church choir and was the Sunday school secretary for 20 years. Born Oct. 16, 1913, in Chesterfield County, S.C., he was a son of Sol W. Jordon and Rosa Belle Mangum Jordon, who both preceded him in death. On May 28, 1944, in Seymour, he married Mary E. “Betty” Riley and she survives. He also is survived by a son, Jeffery L. Jordon, Seymour; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Anna “Betsy” Jordon, Seymour; a brother, Lenson W. Jordon, Pageland, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews. He also was preceded by five brothers, Bruce Jordon, Robert Jordon, Hobson Jordon, Hazel Jordon and Ross Jordon; and three sisters, Inez Sweatt, Beulah Gibson and Louise Mills. The Rev. Neal E. Partain will conduct funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First United Meth-odist Church, Seymour. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Voss and Sons Funeral Service, Voss Chapel, Seymour, and from 12:30 p.m. until time of services Wednesday at the church. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church.
