Seymour Daily Tribune Robert Edmund Kane July 11, 2006 Robert Edmund Kane, 85, Indianapolis, died Monday, July 10, 2006. Mr. Kane was a World War II veteran serving his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theatre. Following his discharge, he earned a degree in engineering from the University of Notre Dame. After graduation he worked for Western Electric. Later, he went to work for S.E. Fenstermaker, and would later purchase the company. After 30 years, he retired in 1989. Mr. Kane was an active member of St. Luke Catholic Church and served on its building and collection committees. He was also a member of St. Pius X Council of the Knights of Columbus and the Kennington Post of the American Legion and was a dedicated member of the University of Notre Dame Alumni Association. He was also a dedicated Chicago Cubs fan. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, M. Kathyleen Welch Kane; two daughters, Marguerite (Scott) Galloway and Alicia Kane-Schnorr; two sons, Patrick Welch (Joann) Kane and Leo John (Suzy) Kane; a sister, Mary Pat Conry; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Joe and Jack Kane. Funeral services will be conducted at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary, Indianapolis, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Luke Catholic Church. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Entombment will take place at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or American Diabetes Association.
