Seymour Daily Tribune November 20, 2006 Mildred Purkey Kindred April 30, 1918 - Nov. 15, 2006 Mildred Purkey Kindred, 88, Spring Hill, Fla., died at 11 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006, at University Community Hospital, Tampa, Fla. Mrs. Kindred was a member of Brownstown Christian Church. She worked at the former Seymour Woolen Mill and also worked in retail sales for 30 years. She was a 1936 graduate of Brownstown High School. She had lived in Washington, D.C., and Charleston, S.C., during the military career of her husband. Born April 30, 1918, in Jackson County, she was a daughter of Harlan Purkey and Ella Belle Kuhn Purkey, both of whom preceded her in death. On Nov. 21, 1941, in Laurel, Miss., she married Donald Kindred, who preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 1976. Survivors include a sister, Velda Purkey Fleenor, Pierson, Fla.; nieces and nephews, Dennis (Ragene) Heath, Pierson, Fla., James (Brenda) Ault, Medora, Jeffrey (Mona) Wray, Brownstown, Harry Jr. (Gayelynn) Crouch, Palmyra, Va., Bob (Tonya) Lucas, Seymour, Donnie Purkey, Columbus, and Marsha Purkey Smith, Indianapolis; great-nieces, Michelle Stout, Natalie Ault, Angie Heath Bean, Kandy Wischmeier, Jerika Lucas, Lisa Lucas, Dove Purkey and Rachel Purkey; great-nephews, Joshua Heath and Seth Purkey; several great-great-nieces and nephews and a special friend, Willard Pease. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Purkey and Melvin Purkey; a nephew, James Purkey; and a great niece. The Rev. Jeff Geisler will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Brownstown. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown. There will be no pubic visitation. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Schneck Medical Center or American Cancer Society.
