Seymour Daily Tribune May 26, 2002 Helen C. Kirchner Helen C. Kirchner, 82, North Vernon, died Friday, May 24, 2002, at her home. Mrs. Kirchner was a homemaker and was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church, North Vernon. She enjoyed canning, gardening, playing cards and bingo. She was a daughter of Paul Matern and Sophia Hill Matern, who both preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Clarence Kirchner, North Vernon; nine daughters, Dorothy Palmer, Fort Wayne, Mary Such, Escondido, Calif., Joanne Skelly, Indianapolis, Margaret Carson, Elizabethtown, Ruth Norris, Butlerville, and Catherine Capes, Ladonna Green, Jeanette Firsich and Jane Kirchner, all of North Vernon; nine sons, Robert B. Kirchner, John Kirchner, Joseph Kirchner, Michael Kirchner, Andrew Kirchner and Patrick Kirchner, all of North Vernon, Mark Kirchner, Butlerville, Paul Kirchner, Seymour, and Stephen Kirchner, Columbus; two sisters, Alberta Biehle, North Vernon, and Delores Wagner, Osgood; a brother, Kenneth Matern, North Vernon; 54 grandchildren; and 52 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by four brothers, George, Raymond, Joseph and Richard Matern; a sister, Esther Matern; a grandson, Aaron Kirchner; and a granddaughter, Sara Green. The Rev. Joe Brown will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, North Vernon. Burial will be at St. Anne’s Church Cemetery, North Vernon. Friends may call from 2 p.m. 8 p.m. Tuesday at Vance - Fisher - Sawyer Funeral Chapel, North Vernon. A rosary service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the St. Anne’s Cemetery Endowment Fund.
