Seymour Daily Tribune Charles Louis Knott Jr. March 132, 1939 - Dec. 2, 2004 Charles Louis Knott, Jr., 65, of Commiskey and formerly of Seymour, died Thursday, Dec , 2004, at his residence. Mr. Knott was a 1957 graduate of Shields High School, Seymour. He worked for Loomis Armor for 10 years and Schwarz Pharma until his retirement in 2003. He was a veterean of the U.S. Army and served from 1958 to 1978. He was a U.S. paratrooper, serving in Germany from 1961 to 1963. He also served two Vietnam tours, from 1965 to 1966 and from 1967 to 1968, with the 101st Airborne and also seved in Korea for 18 monthes. He was a decorated soldier, receiving a Bronze Star Medal with Valor, Air Medal (Fourth Award), Army Commendation Medal, PUrple Heart, Good Conduct Medal (Sixth Award), National Defense Service Award Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Combat Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal in Korea. He also was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Kennel Club of Columbus for 20 years. Born March 13, 1939, in Jackson County, he was a son of Charles Louis Knott Sr., who preceded him in death, and Rowena Alice Moore Knott, who survives at Columbus. He married Anna Mae Hillebrand May 12, 1959, and she survives. He also is survived by a daughter, Monica (John) Magruder, Mississippi; a son Larry Carl Knott (Sayda), Texas; three adopted children, Tom and Sue York and Diana Koop, all of Seymour; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley and Janet Walls, both of Columbus, and Sharon Cox, Seymour; one brother, Donald Knott, Mississippi; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and -nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Monday at Voss and Sons Funeral Service, Boss Chapel, Seymour, with burial at Veterans Memorial Gardens, Madison, with full military graveside rites. Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 11 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
