Seymour Tribune - November 9, 2009 Edith (Nelson) Knott 1915 - 2009 Edith Knott, 94, Seymour, passed away at 10:10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at Schneck Medical Center, following a brief illness. Mrs. Knott was a resident of Jamestown, N.Y, until 1987 when she relocated to Seymour. She was a member of First United Congregational Church of Christ in Jamestown until she moved to Seymour, where she became a member of Peace Lutheran Church of Seymour. She was active in the Church of Jamestown, where she was on the visiting committee, was a Sunday school teacher and was active in Ladies Aid. She was an honorary member of the KZC Sorority for more than 70 years in Jamestown, N.Y. She was a member of the Hammond Organ Club and the Eastern Star. She was active in the Senior Citizen Center of Seymour, playing in the Kitchen Band at nursing homes, and was Get Well chairman of the 107 Senior Club in Seymour. Born April 25, 1915, in Jamestown, N.Y., she was the daughter of Edward C. and Esther Josephine Johnson Nelson, both of whom preceded her in death. On Oct. 8, 1938, in Jamestown, N.Y., she married Ray W. Knott, who preceded her in death April 19, 1988. Survivors include two sons, James Edward (Laurie) Knott and William Ray "Bill" (Frances) Knott; grandchildren, Debbie, David and Randy, Sheila Rae and Todd William; and great-grandchildren, Kody Ray, Ciera Ann, Julianne Rose, Samuel James, Henry Jacob, Clara Elizabeth and Noah Edward. She was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Eckberg, and great-granddaughter, Olivia Shea. Cremation rights have been accorded to Mrs. Edith Knott's request through the Voss & Sons Funeral Service and Tri-County Crematory, Seymour. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Jamestown, N.Y. Burial will take place in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Jamestown, N.Y.
