Seymour Daily Tribune May 13, 2002 Ronald E. Land Ronald E. “Jack” Land, 73, North Vernon, died at 12:08 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2002, at Columbus Regional Hospital, Columbus. Mr. Land owned and operated Land’s Cleaners from 1952 to 1967, then worked as a car salesman after selling the cleaning business. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean conflict. He was a member of First Christian Church in North Vernon and had lived in the area for 50 years. Born Dec. 4, 1928, in Nineveh, he was a son of Donald B. Land and Melissa McQuinn Land, and they both preceded him in death. On Oct. 21, 1950, in Nineveh, he married Betty Lou Robertson Land and she survives in North Vernon. He also is survived by three sons, Rick Land, Hope, Ronald A. Land, Simi, Calif., and Tim S. Land, North Vernon; a daughter, Luanne Smith, North Vernon; a brother, Donald B. “Dickey” Land, Trafalgar; seven grandchildren, Josh Land, Molly Land, Joe Land, Melissa Land Cota, Morgan Land, Evan Land and Owen Land; and two great-grandchildren, Anthony Cota and Austin Cota. The Rev. Ron Bridgewater will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Vance-Fisher-Sawyer Funeral Home, North Vernon. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery, Vernon. Military graveside rites also will be held. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 11:30 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.
