Seymour Tribune - August 26, 2009 Edward George Langlais Edward George Langlais, 91, Seymour, passed away at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, at Covered Bridge Health Campus, Seymour. Mr. Langlais was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. After 45 years he retired from the Sears and Roebuck store in Seymour. He was a World War II veteran as he served his country in the South Pacific. He was very active in Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and was past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, and former member of the Jackson County Appliance Association and chamber of commerce. Born July 28, 1918, in Sorel, Canada, he was the son of George and Rachel Ross Langlais, both of whom preceded him in death. On Feb. 21, 1946, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, he married Mary Louise Baker Langlais, who preceded him in death on Aug. 24, 2005. Survivors include his children, Patricia Louise (Robert O'Neal Schultz) Beddoe and Stephen Edward (Connie) Langlais; four grandchildren, Suzanne Beddoe, Wendy (Rob) Lambrech, Marcy (Clint) Watson and Leigh Ann (Terry) Orner; five great-grandchildren, Laura Lambrech, Kurt Edward Lambrech, Olivia Orner, Lily Watson and Stephen Watson. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Georgianna; five sisters, Ida Miclette, Marian Dubuc, Gilberte Valerien, Connie Champagne and Charlotte Knight; and three brothers, Rosairio Langlais, Joseph Langlais and Lucien Langlais. Father Scott Nobbe assisted by Deacon Mike East will conduct Mass at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Seymour. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour. Full military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at the church. A Rosary service will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Voss Chapel, Seymour.
