Seymour Daily Tribune Nelson Langlie November 1, 2006 Dec. 4, 1930 - Oct. 29, 2006 Nelson Langlie, 75, Brownstown, died at 8:46 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour. Mr. Langlie was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Brownstown, and was chairman of La Paz de Cristo Hispanic Mission, Redeemer Lutheran Church, Seymour. He was a member of Brownstown Exchange Club and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1961. He attended Elmhurst College, Elmhurst, Ill., and Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill. He worked for the United States Gypsum Co. at East Chicago for several years and at Shoals for several years, where he retired in 1990. He was an engineering superintendent. He was a very loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Born Dec. 4, 1930, in Duluth, Minn., he was a son of Hillard Langlie and Vada Nelson Langlie, both of whom preceded him in death. On Aug. 14, 1954, in Parkridge, Ill., he married Joan Blendall Langlie, who survives. Other survivors include four daughters, Mary Langlie, Newtonville, Mass., Carolyn (Ted) Lesnik, Crown Point, Lynne (Mike) Crohn, Bloomington, and the Rev. Jessica Langlie and the Rev. Kevin Stiles, her husband, Indianapolis; six grandchildren, Tom Stiles, Kati (Preston) Carter, Angela Langlie Lesnik, Chelsea Langlie Lesnik, Justin Crohn and Tyler Crohn; a great-grandchild, Mary Josephine Carter; two brothers, Ted Langlie and Bud Langlie, Houston, Texas; and two sisters, Jessica Arena, Houston, Texas, and Vada Hilts, Colorado Springs, Colo. The Rev. Jack Belk and the Rev. Jeff Geisler will conduct a memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Brownstown. Arrangements are being handled by Zabel Funeral Home, Brownstown.
