Seymour Tribune - October 20, 2009 Otis Arley Lee 1913 - 2009 Otis Arley Lee, 96, Tampico, passed away at 3:45 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Ky., from the result of a motor vehicle accident on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 13, 2009. Mr. Lee worked as a baker for Taystee Bread Co. in Indianapolis for many years before moving to Tampico to become a farmer. His lifelong dream was to own a farm, which he owned and ran for 63 years. He worked for Arvin Industries for 12 years before he retired in 1965, and he also drove a school bus for Tampico for many years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, enlisting in September of 1942. He was a member of Russell Chapel Church, Jackson County Historical Society and Indiana Historical Society, American Legion 89 in Seymour and the National Rifle Association. Born May 10, 1913, in Morgan County, Tenn., he was the son of William Jackson and Sarah Mandy Hawn Lee. On March 19, 1938, in Danville, he married Doris Elizabeth Tatlock, who preceded him in death on Oct. 13, 2009. Survivors include a daughter, Norma Jean Neukam, Seymour; two grandchildren, Richard Lee Bedwell, Seymour, and Kimberly Sue Browning, North Vernon; five great-grandchildren, Jennifer Leigh Scott and Michael Richard Burrell, both of Seymour, Tara Lee Bedwell, Crothersville, and Jessica Lee Ann Browning and Ashley Elizabeth Browning, both of North Vernon; and two great-great-grandchildren, Rylan Joseph Burrell and Ethan Michael Scott. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Doris Elizabeth Lee; a daughter, Linda Kay Lee; a grandson, Russell Ray Bedwell; a great-granddaughter, Amanda Marie Burrell; four brothers, Arthur, Fred, Clayton and Odell Lee; five sisters, Myrtle Brown, Ollie Brown, Ella Taylor, Reba McDowell and Ora Rogers; and a nephew raised as a brother, Stanley Lee. The Rev. Cindy Lanning will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Thursday at Adams Funeral Home, Crothersville. Burial will take place at Russell Chapel Cemetery with a ceremonial dove release conducted by Adams Funeral Home, and military funeral rites conducted by American Legion Post 89, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, Disabled American Veterans Post 47 and the Vietnam Veterans 7, all of Seymour Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 1 p.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
