Seymour Daily Tribune Walter Lowell Lewis August 21, 2006 Walter Lowell Lewis, 81, Seymour, died Aug. 20, 2006, at Hospice of South Central Indiana, in Columbus. Mr. Lewis was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Seymour. He was a farmer most of his life and was also in the Army. He belonged to the American Legion, 107 Club, and gave Bible study at the Senior Citizen Center. Born Nov. 24, 1924, in Clay County, Ky., he was a son of Rose Jarvis Lewis and Walter L. Lewis Sr., both of whom preceded him in death. On July 5, 1958, in Jellico, Tenn., he married Belvia DePew, who survives. Other survivors include one son, Charles (Brenda) Clayton Lewis, Seymour; three stepdaughters, Billie (Dennis) Jean Wienhorst, Paris Crossing, Joan (Marvin) Hoevener, Crothersville, and Joyce (David) Brasher, Seymour; 12 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lavern Barger, Ohio; a half sister, Mildred Lewellen, Seymour; two half brothers, T.J. Lewis, Paris Crossing, and Homer Lewis, Florida; several nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by five brothers, three sisters and a stepmother. The Rev. D.G. Morris will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Voss Chapel, Seymour. Burial will take place at Russell Chapel. Full military graveside service will be conducted by the VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post #89, Disabled American Veterans #47 and Vietnam Veterans #7, all of Seymour. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 1 p.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Calvary Baptist Church or Hospice of South Central Indiana.
