Seymour Daily Tribune January 2, 2002 Doyle E. Lucas Sept. 22, 1930-Jan. 1, 2002 Doyle E. “Dude” Lucas, 71, Columbus, died at 2:23 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, at Columbus Regional Hospital. He had been ill for several years. He retired from Golden Foundry in 1992 after 37 years. Born Sept. 22, 1930, in Brown County, he was a son of Herman and Gladys Deckard Lucas. On June 24, 1950, he married Eunice Wilson, who died May 8, 1975. On June 26, 1976, he married Virginia Foster, who survives. Other survivors include four sons, Roger D. Lucas, Columbus, Randall S. Lucas, Kurtz, Doyle Lucas Jr., Freetown, and Tim Lucas, Edinburgh; two stepsons, Richard Foster, Florida, and Melvin Foster, Columbus; two daughters, Penny Jo Lyons, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Cathy Winfield, Round Lake Heights, Ill.; three brothers, Elza Lucas and Glen Lucas, both of Columbus, and Marshall Lucas, North Vernon; two sisters, Alma Stott, Columbus, and Irene Fields, Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin and Raymond Lucas, and a sister, Shirley Bowling. The Rev. Randy Burton will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Brownstown. Burial will be in Freetown Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to donor’s choice.
