Mr. Robert Gordon Manning November 14, 1924 - February 21, 2012 Owner of Manning Janitorial Service passes Mr. Robert Gordon Manning Robert G. Manning, 87, of North Vernon, IN, passed away at Columbus Regional Hospital on February 21, 2012 at 8:03 a.m. Robert was born on November 14, 1924, in Seymour, Indiana, the son of John H. and Roxie M. Martin Manning. He was married to Carolyn Faye Otto; she passed away May 21, 2001. He was a WWII veteran, having served in the U. S. Army from 1943 – 1945. He owned and operated Manning Janitorial Services for over 30 years and retired in 1979. Mr. Manning was of the Christian faith, and enjoyed dancing, Bible Study and church, but especially loved his kids, grandchildren and family. He is survived by his daughter; Wanda (Rick) Lucas, grandchildren; Angela Alvey, Pamela (Graham) Hales, Brian (Lauren) Turner, Barbara Manning, Stephen II (Doralee) Manning, Sonia (Terry) McNeely; great grandchildren, Melany Alvey, Elizabeth & Carolina Hales, Stephen Manning, III, Wade Fox, Bryan Robinson, Jr, Ronald Machesky II, Allisa Eisenmenger, Mark Goddard, Amanda Cockerham, Damon Scheaffer and Justin McNeely; great–great grandchildren, Mackenzie & Bryce Cockerham, Kain, Trent & Zakk Goddard, Cody & Makalia Eisenmenger and a sister; Carolyn (Edward) Bennett. His parents, wife, son, Stephen G. Manning, 3 brothers; Raymond, John and Leo Manning and 2 sisters; Alice Eddy and Edith Trauber, preceded him in death. Funeral Information Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2012, at the Garden City Church of Christ in Garden City, IN. where Rev. Virgil Clotfelter will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2012, at Garden City Church of Christ and on Friday, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour, IN after the service. The American Legion Post #89, V.F.W. #1925, D.A.V. #47 & Vietnam Veterans #7, all of Seymour, will conduct graveside military rites.
