Seymour Daily Tribune February 8, 2002 Dennis Leon Manuel Dennis Leon Manuel, 83, Greenwood, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at his home. Mr. Manuel was a graduate of Freetown High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He and his wife, Wanita, were owners of the Dairy Queen and Dairy Queen Brazier in Franklin from 1951 until 1975. They later were co-owners of the Whispering Pines Golf Course in Walkerton. He was a member of Greenwood Christian Church, Camon Masonic Lodge 343, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis and Murat Shrine. Born Jan. 4, 1919, in Freetown, he was a son of Joe and Reva McKinney Manuel. On Sept. 9, 1939, he married Wanita Waggoner, who survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Judy McClelland, Greenwood, and Geila English, Mooresville, N.C.; three granddaughters, Angela McClelland and Andrea Hampton, both of Greenwood, and Jamie English, Charlotte, N.C.; and two sisters, Lavonia Foist, Seymour, and Vermadean Warren, Terre Haute. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marguerite Wiker and Lois Garloch, and a granddaughter, Dawn McClelland. The Rev. Shan Rutherford will conduct services at 11 a.m. Monday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, Franklin. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Jon E.
