Seymour Tribune John H. Martindale Jr. 1925 - 2009 John H. Martindale Jr., 84, Brownstown, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at Columbus Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Martindale retired as a major with the United States Air Force. He graduated from Purdue University and was a self-employed commercial contractor. His memberships included the Elks Lodge, the American Legion in Brownstown and the Vincennes Masonic Lodge. He had been precinct inspector for several years in Jackson County, and he had served on the advisory board for several years. He enjoyed antique tractors and tinkering outdoors. Born Jan. 30, 1925, in Knox County, he was the son of John and Jennie Church Martindale. On Dec. 23, 1949, at Lafayette, he married Betty Misner, who survives. Other survivors include four children, Mike (Seeta) Martindale, Cincinnati, Ohio, Doris (Jeff) Bond, Brownstown, Janice (Tom) Gray, Seymour, and David Martindale, Brownstown; one brother, Larry (Wilda) Martindale, Vincennes; two sisters, Olamae Bess and Marilyn (John) Smith, both of Vincennes; nine grandchildren, Nicole Gray, Jeremy Gray, Stephanie Gray, Diana (Sam) Nolan, Pamela Bond, Megan Martindale, Kyle Martindale, Kevin (April) Martindale and Meera Martindale; and two great-grandchildren, Aidan Peters and Lincoln Martindale. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home, Brownstown. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
