Seymour Daily Tribune Jean Mann Marx Aug. 27, 1922 – July 3, 2006 Jean Mann Marx, 83, Charleston, S.C., widow of Albert “Woody” Marx, died Monday, July 3, 2006, at the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital. Mrs. Marx dedicated her life to her family, friends and many volunteer organizations. She was a member of Clemson United Methodist Church. She was one of the founding members and still served on the board of Meals on Wheels in Clemson, S.C. She served as their treasurer for more than 17 years. She also was one of the founding members of the Clemson Downs Volunteers and has worked in the Health Care Center for more than 25 years. Being married to an United States Air Force officer and pilot, she was always active in military wives activities. She was currently co-chairman of the Retired Military Wives Club in Clemson. She was also an avid Clemson fan and members of IPTAY for more than 35 years. She filled our lives with God’s love, and her memory will live in our hearts forever. Born Aug. 27, 1922, in Freetown, she was a daughter of John Curtis Mann and Ethel Tinch. Survivors include a daughter, Janis Marx (Nathan Jr.) Newton; and three grandsons, Zach, Seth and Russ, all of Charlestown, S.C. She was preceded in death by a son, James Eric Marx; a brother, C.T. “Jack” Mann; and a sister, Wilma Hauenschild. Dr. Eugene Gladney will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Voss Chapel. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 12 p.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
