Seymour Daily Tribune February 27, 2002 Floyd V. Maschino Floyd V. Maschino, 80, North Vernon, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at Florida Hospital Orlando South, Orlando, Fla. Mr. Maschino was a retired refrigeration engineer. He had worked as a refrigeration/air-conditioning engineer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio, for several years, owned and operated Maschino Concrete Block in North Vernon from 1951 to 1955 and owned and operated a Sunoco filling station in North Vernon from 1955 to 1962, then worked for Greathouse Hardware in North Vernon for a few years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Rosary Society and Knights of Columbus St. Bernard Council. Born July 18, 1921, in Jennings County, he was a son of Victor Maschino and Ruth Hawk. On April 19, 1949, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church at North Vernon, he married Mary Schuck, who survives in North Vernon. Other survivors include three daughters. Patricia J. Stone, Canoga Park, Calif., Karen Maschino, Morgan Hill, Calif., and Mary Ann Leach, Zion, Ill.; five brothers, Paul Maschino, Louisville, Leroy Maschino, Amos Maschino and Roger Maschino, all of North Vernon, and Arthur Maschino, Union City, Ohio; three sisters, Juanita Maschino, Beech Grove, Agnes Euler, Columbus, and Irene Simmons, North Vernon; four grandchildren, Sgt. Christopher Guthrie, Fort Knox, Ky., Justin Stone, Mayport, Fla., Jon Leach, Zion, Ill., and Helen Maschino, Morgan Hill, Calif.; and a great-grandchild, Taralyn Guthrie, Fort Knox, Ky. The Rev. Herman Lutz will conduct services at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, North Vernon. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, North Vernon. Military graveside rites will be conducted. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Vance-Fisher-Sawyer Funeral Home, North Vernon. A rosary service will be conducted at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Research or St. Mary’s Cemetery Fund.
