Seymour Daily Tribune January 26, 2002 George T. Maynard George T. Maynard, 90, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie. Mr. Maynard graduated from Clearspring High School in 1931 and received a bachelor of science degree in education from Indiana State Teachers College, now Indiana State University. He was employed with Noblitt Sparks and served in the U.S. Army as a surgical technician at Camp Wolters Hospital in Mineral Wells, Texas. He retired from Warner Gear in 1974. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene for more than 70 years. He and his wife were presented with the Sunshine Couple Award of Muncie on the Move in 1986 and the Distinguished Service Award for years of faithful service in the First Church of the Nazarene in Muncie on their 50th wedding anniversary. Born Oct. 11, 1911, in Kurtz, he was a son of Riley and Sadie Johnson Maynard. On June 9, 1934, in Brownstown, he married Flossie E. Baker, who survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Dr. Reva Hodge (husband, Michael); six grandchildren, Michelle Hodge Flowers (husband, John), Melissa Hodge, Matthew Hodge (wife, Dawn Dee), Mark Hodge (wife, Christina), the Rev. Martin Hodge (wife, Mandy) and Marcie Hodge Taylor (husband, Kevin); and four great-grandchildren, Jlynn Taylor, Peyton Taylor, Victoria Hodge and Baylee Hodge. He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Markus Hodge; five brothers; four sisters; and a half sister. Funeral services were conducted Dec. 28 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home. Burial was in Elm Ridge Memorial Park. Memorials may be given to the Little Red Door Cancer Society of Delaware County or First Church of the Nazarene in Muncie.
