Seymour Daily Tribune January 17, 2007 Raymond J. McAllister Jr. Raymond J. McAllister Jr., 79, of rural Seymour died at 5:22 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at Scott Memorial Hospital in Scottsburg. Mr. McAllister had been a resident of Jackson County for two- and a half-years after moving from Sacramento, Calif., to be closer to his family. He was patriotic, meticulous and a very detailed individual. His love for his family and country was evident by his commitment and devotion he made to both. He retired from the U.S. Army on Jan. 1, 1978. While serving his country in the Army since 1952, he earned his highest rank as master sergeant E-8. After retiring, he was recruited by Ratheon, a world-leading company in developing defense technologies. He dedicated 13 years to Ratheon and worked on the Patriot missile program that was initiated during the first Gulf War. While serving in Germany, he met his wife, Martha Lange. They were married on Feb. 3, 1955, in Butzbach Germany. They shared many memories from all over the world in the 52 years they were married. Born on March 22, 1927, in Dallas, he was the son of Raymond J. McAllister Sr. and Dorothy Ruth (Davis) McAllister, who are both deceased. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, becoming a Mason while serving in Germany. A member of the Sacramento area modelers flying group, he enjoyed flying model airplanes from the World War I and World War II eras, collecting guns and had a passion for working on cars at his automobile garage that he owned before and during his enlistment in the Army. Survivors include his wife, Martha McAllister, Seymour; a son, Brandon A. McAllister, Seymour; four daughters, Sandra (David) Pitts, Elk Grove, Calif., Virginia S. McAllister, Seymour, Claudia K. McAllister, Elk Grove, Calif., and Luise F. McAllister, Seymour; three brothers, Danny McAllister, Sunnyvale, Calif., Gary Woods, Phoenix, and Buddy Woods, Phoenix,; two sisters, Barbara Dale VanArsdale, Phoenix, and Marita Woods, Glendora, Calif.; six grandchildren, Jason Wayne Davis, Brownstown, Brandon Ezra Davis, Seymour, Caitlin Cathleen Pitts, Elk Grove, Calif., Dillon Ross Pitts, Elk Grove, Calif., Kyle Raymond Parker, Elk Grove, Calif., and Cameron McAllister, Stockton, Calif.; and three great-grandchildren, Jordan M. Davis, Bailey Davis, Alia D. Davis, all of Brownstown. The Rev. Tim Miller will conduct funeral services at 6 p.m. Thursday at Adams Funeral Home, Crothersville. Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home before the service. The Indiana Army Honor Guard will provide military funeral honors as part of the funeral service at the funeral home.
