Seymour Tribune - October 31, 2009 Everett McGill "Briggs" Jr. 1925 - 2009 Everett "Briggs" McGill Jr., 84, Seymour, passed away at 1:47 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at Schneck Medical Center. Mr. McGill was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Seymour Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Masonic Lodge. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He had been owner of Briggs Fabrication. Born Feb. 27, 1925, in Jennings County, he was the son of Everett and Thelma Wilkerson McGill, both of whom preceded him in death. In 1970, in Seymour, he married Maude Beyer Prewitt, who survives. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Sally McGill Reithel, Jane McGill Barker, Colletta Jo (George) Pfaffenberger, Mary (Hank) Schull and Susie (Larry) Snyder; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brothers, John McGill, Charles McGill and Roger McGill. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dixie McGill Benedict; stepdaughter, Linda Brackemyre; stepgranddaughter, Michele Brackemyre; brothers, James McGill and Donald E. McGill; and sister, Marjorie McGill. The Rev. Ralph Blomenberg will conduct graveside services at 1 p.m. Saturday at Riverview Cemetery. Full military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour. There will be a Voss dove release.
