Seymour Tribune Jack McKain 1924 - 2008 Jack McKain, 83, Brownstown, passed away at 7:26 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour. Mr. McKain was a World War II Army veteran. He had served as a medic with the 375th Medical Corps within the 75th Infantry Division during the Battle of the Bulge. He retired from REMC as a line foreman after working with them for 26 years. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Born Nov. 18, 1924, in Jackson County, he was the son of John R. and Bess Cockerham McKain. On Aug. 26, 1944, he married Betty Hupp, who survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Jennifer (Steve) VonDielingen, Brownstown, Linda McKain, Claremore, Okla., and Rebecca McKain, Seymour; a brother, Max (Irene) McKain, Brownstown; a sister, Shirley Ann Robinette, Crothersville; seven grandchildren, Celina Davis, Matt VonDielingen, Ted Disque, Christy Murphy, Andy VonDielingen, Regan Tuttle and Ashley Johnson; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Jackson and Catherine Critchlow, and seven brothers, Kenneth Dean, John P., Dallas, Roland, Richard, Roscoe and Otis McKain. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home, Brownstown. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown. Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
