Seymour Daily Tribune Joann McKain September 25, 2006 Joann McKain, 76, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2006, at 12:02 p.m. at her brother's home in Buchanan, Tenn. Mrs. McKain was of Christian faith, a breast cancer survivor, and a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, and an avid bowler on the senior league. She worked in the shoe factory, she then managed the Tipton Inn Tavern until its closing in 1985 and bartended at the VFW. Born May 6, 1930, in Crothersville she was a daughter of Raymond Wilson and Elsie (Berry) Wilson Scaggs both of whom preceded her in death. A stepfather Everett (Ted) Scaggs also preceded her in death. On Oct. 11, 1947, she married Joe E. McKain in Vernon, who preceded her in death on April 2, 1999. Survivors include a son Joe (Barbara) McKain, Seymour, and two daughters, Sharon (Donny) Black, Seymour, Pam (Larry) Kriete, Terre Haute; eight grandchildren, Jason Black, Seymour, Jarrod (Jenny) Black, Tampa Bay, Fla., Kelly Black, Columbus, Lesley Jo (Scott) Bruns, Zionsville, Trenton Kriete, Merced, Calif., Kayla Jo McKain, Kimberly Jo Day and Dylan McKain, all of Seymour, two great-grandchildren, Drew and Lauren Bruns, Zionsville; two brothers, Billy Ray (Eloise) Wilson, Buchanan, Tenn., and Arthur (Nancy), Lubbock, Texas, and several nieces and nephews. Pastor Philip Bloch will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Voss Funeral Service. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America or Immanuel Lutheran Church.
