Seymour Daily Tribune November 14, 2006 Russell A. Meek Feb. 20, 1931 - Nov. 12, 2006 Russell A. Meek, 75, Columbus, died at 5:20 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, at the Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility, Columbus. Mr. Meek retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1986. After retirement he did small engine repair and attended Jonesville Christian Church. He was a member of the Bayless Masonic Lodge in Jonesville, Bartholomew County Shriners and the Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite. He was an avid horseman and a former farmer and 4-H horse and pony leader in the late 1960s. Born Feb. 20, 1931, he was a son of Sylvester and Benzia Oneal Meek, both of whom preceded him in death. On Sept. 30, 1950, he married Beulah L. Evans, who preceded him in death on Aug. 22, 2000. Survivors include two sons, Glenn D. Meek, Freetown, and Ronald L. Meek, Columbus; two daughters, Connie L. (Wayne) Denney, North Vernon, and Rhonda L. (Jimmy) Bryant, Columbus; one brother, Donald (Patti) Meek, Columbus; three sisters, Georgia Wilkerson and Margaret Greene, both of Columbus, and Betty (Alton) Channey, Indianapolis; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Carol S. Boas; one grandson, Joshua Boas; three brothers, Harley and Jack Meek and Richard Terrell and two sisters, Gladys Moffatt and Irene Kuntz. The Rev. Roy Hendershot will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver and Glick Funeral Home, Washington St., Columbus. Burial will take place at Daughtery Cemetery, Columbus. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday by the Bayless Masonic Lodge at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility or the Shriners Children's Hospital.
