Seymour Daily Tribune May 4, 2002 Lucille L. Meeks Lucille L. Meeks, 94, Scottsburg, died Friday, May 3, 2002, at King’s Daughters Hospital, Madison. Mrs. Meeks was a housewife and a quilt maker. She was a member of Scaffold Lick Baptist Church. Born Jan. 30, 1908, in Warren County, Ky., she was a daughter of Ewing Scruggs and Minnie Johns Scruggs, who both preceded her in death. She is survived by six sons, Joseph W. Meeks and Thomas E. Meeks, both of El Paso, Texas, and Lloyd W. Meeks, Chester H. Meeks Jr., Virgil Roman Meeks and Delbert Meeks, all of Scottsburg; four daughters, Mary L. Mann, Bowling Green, Ky., Wanda Stidham, Smith Grove, Ky., Velma Hall, Austin, and Barbara Malcomb, North Vernon; a brother, Bobby Scruggs, Bowling Green, Ky.; a sister, Mary Brown, Bowling Green, Ky.; 28 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; and 35 great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded by her husband, Chester Meeks; a son, Elvis R. Meeks; two brothers, Ewing Scruggs and Roy Scruggs; and a sister, Christian Bronson. The Rev. Don Allen will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday at Buchanan Funeral Home, Austin. Burial will be at Scaffold Lick Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until time of services Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, care of the funeral home.
