Seymour Tribune - September 2, 2009 Stanley E. Metz 1947 - 2009 Stanley E. Metz, 62, Crothersville, passed away at 9:20 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, at his home, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Mr. Metz was a 1965 graduate of Seymour High School and a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He was a farmer all of his life, and also worked at Cummins Engine Co., retiring after 30 years. Mr. Metz was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Dudleytown, where he served in several offices. He had many civic interests; he was a former member of the Jackson County 4-H Council for many years, and then joined the Jackson County Fair Board in 1988, serving on the Executive Committee, and was the current chairman of the grounds. He was the Democratic Precinct Committee person in Vernon Township, North, for many years and was elected to the Vernon Township Board, where he was the current president. He was also a member of Seymour American Legion Post 89. Born March 15, 1947, in Seymour, he was the son of Ralph Emerson and Mary Elizabeth Kovener Metz, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Karen Ann Stuckwisch on July 8, 1967, at Zion Lutheran Church, Seymour. He is survived by his wife of 42 years; three sons, Gregory Emerson Metz, Indianapolis, Todd Andrew Metz, Crothersville, and Mark Eugene Metz, Indianapolis; one grandson, Dustin Andrew Metz, a brother, Ronald (Shelby) Metz, and his sister, Kathy (Jeff) Hilton, all of Seymour; and several nieces and nephews. The Rev. Scott Kozisek will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Dudleytown. Burial will take place at Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the United States Air Force and American Legion 89, Veterans of Foreign Wars 1925, Disabled American Veterans 47 and Vietnam Veterans 7, all of Seymour. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, Seymour, and from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church.
