Seymour Daily Tribune Sidney Graham Miller August 23, 2006 Sidney Graham Miller tragically died when Hurricane Katrina came ashore in Bay St. Louis, the morning of Aug. 29, 2005. Mr. Miller was a 1943 graduate of Seymour and was a state rifle championship winner in his teen years. He attended West Point from 1943 to 1944. He dropped out of West Point to join the war effort. He served in the United States Army from Feb. 19, 1945, to May 26, 1947. He was assigned to the military police in Germany for the duration. On his return, he attended Purdue University under the G.I. Bill and received a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering in 1951. He was employed by Standard Oil of California all of his working career, in computer engineering. His early work was in computerized control of refining operations in 1958 to 1959 at the El Segundo refinery. He moved to the main computer center in San Francisco about 1963. He was then assigned to automate refinery operations in Abadan, Iran, from 1965 to 1970. He returned to the San Francisco computer center until his retirement - except for a brief hiatus to open a stamp store. He was an avid stamp collector and loved to ski. Born Dec. 19, 1925, in Washington, D.C., he was a son of Loedicia Clay Miller and Lee Graham (a newspaper editor and writer), his mother preceded him in death on Jan. 13, 1926. He was raised by his uncle Hobbs Miller and Chris Miller in Seymour. He married his first wife when he was at Purdue, then he married Eunice Turner in 1957. They lived in California until Sid retired, and they moved to Arizona, she preceded him in death in 2000. He then moved to Gulfport, Miss., and married Barb Foster, his high school sweetheart on Dec. 16, 2000, in Las Vegas. They separated in 2002 and later divorced. He then moved to Bay St. Louis, Miss. Survivors include many family members and friends who loved him dearly, including his half-sister, Devon Miller, Washington, D.C., a step-son, Dan (Anne-Marie) Turner, cousins, Robert Miller, Columbus, and Barbara Miller, Denver, former wife, Barb Foster, Seymour, and Tom Voss, Seymour.
