Seymour Daily Tribune January 9, 2002 William A. Miller William A. “Bill” Miller, 94, Frankfort, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002. He was a 1925 graduate of Shields High School in Seymour and was a 1929 Purdue University graduate, receiving a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering. He received the Indiana Registered Professional Engineer Certificate in 1935. From 1928 to 1945, he worked in bridge design for the Indiana Department of Highway, and from 1945 to 1952, he worked for International Harvester. He worked for Williams Beck and Hess Construction Contractor from 1952 to 1956, and from 1956 to 1974 he worked for Arthur A. Gill and Son Construction Contractor, from which he retired. He was the complete designer of a minimum of 12 commercial or office buildings. Mr. Miller was a life member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church, Frankfort, and was active as a Sunday school teacher to teenagers. He served on several boards and was a member of the choir. He served as president of the Clinton County Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of Frankfort Kiwanis Club, Salvation Army Board, Clinton County Foundation for Youth and Frankfort Community Housing Board and was past chairman of the United Way fund drive. As a board member, he served Wesley Manor, Camp Cullom, Human Resource Center. He was district chairman for Boy Scouts of America and was awarded the Silver Beaver Award. He was a 50-year Clinton Masonic Lodge member, a 50-year Indianapolis Valley Scottish Rite member and a 50-year Clinton County Scottish Rite member. Born Dec. 15, 1907, in Seymour, he was the son of Albert H. and Alice Nora Ackerman Miller. On Sept. 2, 1930, in Lafayette, he married Margaret E. Flack, and she survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Nancy Lou) Miller Fine, Kewanee, Ill.; a son, Roger Lee (wife Joyce) Miller, Frankfort; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Stanley (wife Dorothy) Walker, West Lafayette. A sister, Ruth Miller Walker, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at Amanda Reid Chapel, Wesley Manor, Frankfort. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be conducted at 2:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Salvation Army, Boy Scouts or Clinton County Boys and Girls Club. Goodwin Funeral Home, Frankfort, is in charge of arrangements.
