Seymour Tribune Ralph L. Mitchaner 1916 - 2008 Ralph L. Mitchaner, 91, Seymour, passed away at 7:45 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at the Lutheran Community Home, Seymour. Mr. Mitchaner was a member of Reddington Christian Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from Cummins Engine Company on Jan. 3, 1987, after many years of service. Born in Kurtz on Nov. 16, 1916, he was the son of Logan and Daisy Cummings Mitchaner, both of whom preceded him in death. On Feb. 24, 1941, in Henryville, he married Rettie Jane Rumph, who preceded him in death on Nov. 27, 2003. Survivors include twin daughters, Rita (David) Sherrill and Nita (Jim) Proctor; three grandchildren, Anthony (Dina) Sherrill, Brent Proctor and Taunja (Scott) LaFountain; seven great-grandchildren and one sister, Bernadine (Robert) Hunter. He was preceded in death by grandson, Troy Sherrill and one brother, Russell Mitchaner. The Rev. Scott Brown will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Voss Chapel, Seymour. Burial will take place at Reddington Cemetery with a dove release following. Full military graveside services will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
