Seymour Tribune - December 2008 Leonard Howard Mitchell 1919 - 2008 Leonard Howard Mitchell, 89, Seymour, passed away at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at The Waters of Seymour. Mr. Mitchell was a member of Community Christian Church in Seymour. He was a World War II Army veteran having served in the Pacific Theater. He had farmed at Tampico for many years and later moved to Seymour where he retired from Sears Roebuck. Born Feb. 2, 1919, in Jackson County, he was the son of Leslie Earl and Nellie Pearl Daniels Mitchell. On May 24, 1952, he married Alice Seymour, who survives in Seymour. Other survivors include six children, Nancy Mitchell, Seymour, Allen Mitchell, Indianapolis, David Mitchell, Seymour, Susan (Frank) Fee, Loogootee, Randy Mitchell, Scottsburg, and Chuck Mitchell, Henderson, Ky.; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Randall) Long, Josh (Mandy) Fee, Leslie (Travis) Hall, Sara Fee, Katie Mitchell and Jonathon Mitchell. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Louise Mitchell and Ruby Esther Smith, and one brother, Richard Mitchell. Louis Banks will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Monday at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home, Brownstown. Burial will take place at Houston Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
