Seymour Tribune Irene Esther (Claycamp) Nieman 1937 - 2009 Irene Esther Nieman, 71, of Seymour passed away at 1:40 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2009, at Hospice Inpatient Care, Columbus. Mrs. Nieman was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers. She graduated in 1956 from Shields High School and retired from Schneck Medical Center after 30 years and was a retired dairy farmer. She belonged to the Western Twirlers Square Dance Club from 1982 to 1997. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and taking care of her family. Born Oct. 3, 1937, in Dudleytown, she was the daughter of Everett and Clara Otting Claycamp, both of whom preceded her in death. On Sept. 6, 1959, in Dudleytown, she married Wilbur L. Nieman, who survives. Other survivors include two sons, Byron D. (Winna) Nieman, Crothersville, and Eric J. Nieman, Seymour; two daughters, Sarah L. Nieman Toot, North Vernon, and Rebecca J. (Jerry) Freeman, Columbus; one sister, Verna (Willard) Benter, Seymour; and three grandchildren, Ethan Nieman, Hannah Nieman and Shane Toot. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Claycamp. The Rev. Craig Muhlbach will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers. Burial will take place at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Brownstown, and from noon until time of service Wednesday at the church.
