Seymour Tribune Max Pearcy 1933 - 2008 Max Pearcy, 74, Seymour, passed away Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour. Max spent three years in the U.S. Army, serving as a military policeman. He received an associate degree in criminal justice. He was Brownstown town marshal for three years and was a Seymour city policeman for 22 years, the last three as chief of police. He was an active member of the local, state and national Fraternal Order of Police, receiving the Chris Anton Commemorative Award for dedication to the FOP. He served as Jackson County Clerk for eight years. He received the Sagamore of the Wabash award for his work for the Democratic Party in Jackson County. He also was a member of the Elks Club, Moose Lodge, Eagles Aerie and Central Christian Church, all in Seymour. Born Nov. 4, 1933, in Morgan County, he was the son of Harry and Josephine Burns Pearcy, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Jeannette Bobbitt in 1959, and she survives. Other survivors include a son, Max Kevin Pearcy; two grandsons, Christopher and Andrew and a granddaughter, Jennifer Pearcy. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters. The Rev. Jon Carlstrom will conduct a memorial service at 6 p.m. Monday at Voss Chapel, Seymour. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
