Seymour Daily Tribune Leona Marie Peters August 10, 2006 Sept. 14, 1919 - Aug. 8, 2006 Leona Marie Peters, 86, of Lutheran Community Home, Seymour, died at 11:44 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at Schneck Medical Center. Mrs. Peters was a homemaker and member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, Sauers. She was a member of the Ladies Aid at Sauers, Sauers Extension Homemakers and Golden Age Club at Sauers. She also was a 4-H leader for 45 years, a Brownstown Township Farm Bureau Woman Leaders for 45 years and a volunteer with the Jackson County chapter of the American Red Cross. She loved to sew and knit. Born Sept. 14, 1919, in Grassy Fork Township, she was the daughter of Louis H. Tormoehlen and Lena Wessel Tormoehlen, who both preceded her in death. On Oct. 27, 1940, in Wegan, she married Walter Peters. He died Feb. 2, 1987. Survivors include two sons, Alvin "Al" (Nancy) Peters, Lafayette, and Willard "Pete" (Brenda) Peters, Seymour; a daughter, Glenda R. (Mark) Hall, Seymour; four brothers, Delbert Tormoehlen, Seymour, Wayne Tormoehlen, Vallonia, Glenn Tormoehlen, Brownstown, and Leslie Tormoehlen, Brownstown; three sisters, Elnora Lucas, Winterhaven, Fla., Edna Stuckwisch, Brownstown, and Wilma Benter, Seymour; eight grandchildren, Marcia Doran, Emily Peters, Brandon Peters, Jan Cogswell, Troy Peters, Sonya Seyl, Justin Hall and Derek Hall; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer and Robert Tormoehlen; and three sisters, Laura Peters, Luella Stuckwisch and Earlene Tormoehlen. The Rev. Craig Muhlbach will conduct services at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Sauers, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
