Johnson B. Pless
Johnson B. “J.B.” Pless, 88, Mitchell, died at 7:40 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at the Bliss House in Bedford.
Mr. Pless was retired from Lehigh Portland Cement Company and was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Mitchell.
Born Nov. 9, 1913, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Ray and Delphia Mae Johnson Pless, who both preceded him in death. On June 30, 1935, he married V. Irene McMahan and she survives in Mitchell.
He also is survived by two daughters, Sharon K. (Jerry) Tirey, Seymour, and Cheryll (William J.) Sanders, Mitchell; six grandchildren, Brad Tirey, Kim Darlage, Brian Tirey, Thomas Harrell, Jason Harrell and Amanda Sanders; and eight grandchildren.
He also was preceded by a daughter, Sheila Harrell; three sisters, Lois Dunlap, Mary Catherine Crabbe and Edith Mae Lewis; and a brother, Winfred Pless.
The Rev. Donald McMahan will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Chastain Funeral Home, Mitchell, and from 9 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the church.
Memorials may be made to Wesley Chapel Church or the Hoosier Uplands Hospice, through the funeral home.
