Seymour Tribune - October 17, 2009 John Charles Prewitt "Jack" Sr. 1925 - 2009 John Charles "Jack" Prewitt Sr., 84, of Danville and formerly of Seymour, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, at his residence with his family by his side. He had been in failing health for 3½ years. Mr. Prewitt was a member of Cloverleaf Baptist Church, Indianapolis. He graduated from Shields High School, Seymour. He retired from Allisons in Indianapolis in 1990 after 37 years of service, where he was a tool and die purchaser. He served as a corpsman in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Born in Seymour, on Oct. 13, 1925, he was the son of James Guy and Mary Auphenberg Prewitt, both of whom preceded him in death. On Dec. 6, 1947, he married Henrietta "Judy" Emily, who survives. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Marsha Sparks, John (Sherry) Prewitt Jr., Terry Prewitt and James (Melissa) Prewitt; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Tony Prewitt; and a sister, Jean Shelton. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vivian Kay Jones, and an infant daughter, Brenda Sue Prewitt; five brothers; and one sister. The Rev. John Barker will conduct funeral services at noon Monday at Voss Chapel, Seymour. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour, with full military graveside rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans 47 and Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour. There will be a Voss dove release. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
