Seymour Daily Tribune February 18, 2002 Ervin ‘Odean’ Pruitt Ervin “Odean” Pruitt, 72, of Freetown died at 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at his home after an illness of 10 months. Mr. Pruitt was a member of Houston Christian Church and was retired from Cummins Engine Co., where he had been a foreman of the tool shop. He also had been a rural postal carrier for the Norman community and was a veteran of the Korean War. Born Dec. 30, 1929, in Jackson County, he was the son of Irvin and Thelma Pearson Pruitt. He was a lifelong resident of Jackson County. On June 30, 1956, in Houston, he married Catherine Isley. She survives. Other survivors include three children, Kevin Pruitt, Kent Pruitt and Mrs. Rick (Kimberly) Rotert, all of Freetown; two sisters, Claire Mae Garloch, Freetown, and Mrs. Darrell (Lynn Ann) Kaiser, Brownstown; and seven grandchildren, Michael Pruitt, Katie Pruitt, Ashley Pruitt, Stephanie Pruitt, Kelly Pruitt, Laura Ann Rotert and Richard Rotert. The Rev. David Fisher and the Rev. Louis Banks will conduct services at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Houston Christian Church. Military graveside rites will be conducted at Houston Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home in Brownstown and from 11 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Jennings County, Houston Christian Church or the American Cancer Society.
