Seymour Tribune Dorothy R. (Jackson) Cooley Quillen 1928 - 2008 Dorothy R. Cooley Quillen, 80, Columbus, passed away at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, at her residence. Mrs. Quillen lived her entire life in Bartholomew County and was a member of First Christian Church. She was a Sunday school teacher for more than 40 years and was employed in the Bartholomew County Clerk's office for several years before working at Family and Children's Services. She enjoyed playing cards, mushroom hunting, fishing, gardening and going to country music shows at the Little Nashville Opry. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born March 1, 1928, she was the daughter of James W. Darnell and Sarah Butler Jackson, both of whom preceded her in death. She was first married to George Wesley Cooley and later married Calvin Anderson Quillen on March 21, 1975. Survivors include a son, G. Richard (Pru) Cooley, Columbus; a stepson, Jeffrey Allen Quillen, Columbus, grandchildren, Lisa (Matthew) Wieneke and Amy Cooley, both of Seymour, Sarah Cooley, Fairland, Jenifer (Dan) Smith, Greenwood, and Brandon (Julie) Schrock, Plainfield; and great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Reid and Ryan Wieneke, Kendra and Kristen Cooley, Connor and Ella Schrock and William Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Quillen, on Aug. 25, 2005; a brother, James Darnell; a half brother, Jerry Jackson; and a half sister, Phyllis Simpson. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, with remarks by Milo Smith. Burial will take place at Daugherty Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Allen Quillen, James Darnell Jr., Brian Darnell, Brandon Schrock, Dan Smith, Matt Wieneke, Richard Cooley and Jason Blagrave.
